Ukraine's energy systems have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and faced interruptions to water supplies, according to city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was killed in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, based on information from area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "concrete actions" from partner nations to exert influence on Russia.

He said that 450 drones and over thirty missiles struck energy facilities, characterizing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were working to restore power.

A wave of strikes damaged power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people injured in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.

The whole nation is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to identify.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to damage the national power system, with attacks already disrupting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
