19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time coach Cervara.
Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.
This marks his maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since March of 2023.
Victory also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 various events.
"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.
His counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had led observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.
But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play positively, supported by an improved serve.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to force a decider.
Moutet defended 4 initial opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
